Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Vibe Chimes is a free, browser-based wind chime simulator. We do not run user accounts, we do not have a server-side database, and we do not collect personally identifiable information. Your scene preferences are saved in your browser using localStorage on your device only. The site is monetized by Google AdSense and optionally fetches local weather data when you choose Live Weather mode. The details follow below.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

None. There is no sign-up, no contact form, and no input fields that send data to a server.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

When you adjust scene settings (chime materials, wind, time of day, volume), Vibe Chimes saves those values in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. It persists across visits so your preferred setup is restored when you return. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for vibechimes.com.

Geolocation (Live Weather Mode Only)

If you choose the Live Weather scene, your browser will ask permission to share your approximate location. If you grant it, your latitude and longitude are sent to the Open-Meteo weather API to fetch current wind, temperature, and sky conditions. The request is anonymous and Open-Meteo does not require an account or API key. We do not store your coordinates anywhere. If you decline, Live Weather mode is unavailable but the rest of the site works normally.

Cookies and Local Storage

Vibe Chimes itself does not set any tracking cookies. We use localStorage for two purposes:

• Saving your scene settings and chime configurations.
• Remembering your cookie consent choice so we don't ask you again every visit.

Third-party services (described below) may set their own cookies, but only after you accept the cookie banner.

Google AdSense

Vibe Chimes displays advertisements served by Google AdSense, which funds the site so it remains free. AdSense and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also visit aboutads.info to opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising. Until you click Accept on the cookie banner, the AdSense script is not loaded and no advertising cookies are set.

Open-Meteo (Weather Data)

When Live Weather mode is active, your latitude and longitude are sent to open-meteo.com to retrieve current weather conditions. Open-Meteo's privacy practices are described on their website. We do not transmit any other data to them.

Vercel (Hosting)

The site is hosted on Vercel, which automatically logs request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and operational purposes. We do not access these logs to identify individual visitors.

Children's Privacy

Vibe Chimes is suitable for all ages and does not target children specifically. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, please contact us so we can address the issue.

Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because we do not store personally identifiable information on servers we control, most data subject requests (access, deletion, portability) do not apply. For data handled locally in your browser, you have full control: clear your site data to remove it. For data handled by Google AdSense, please use Google's privacy tools linked above.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the homepage.
